WHO WE ARE
Sudden Death Brewing was founded in 2017 to bring ice hockey, rock’n’roll, and beer under one roof.
Part of the new wave of modern German brewers, Sudden Death Brewing is a hop-forward brewery focused on crisp lagers, hazy bombs, and off-the-wall sours.
As of 2022, we brew our own beer in historical Lübeck for our pub, the surrounding region, and beer enthusiasts across Europe and the rest of the world.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Sudden Death Brewing is seeking an experienced brewer to join our production team.
This is a multi-role and dynamic position engaged and partaking in all aspects of the process: wort production, cellaring, and packaging.
Candidates applying for this position should be dedicated, passionate, hardworking, and kind. Detail-attentive, quality-focused, results-driven, and team-oriented attributes are an absolute must.
Candidates who will be reviewed for this position must have previous production brewing employment for a minimum of two years (excl. internship and / or apprenticeship).
POSITION SUMMARY
You will play an integral role in day-to-day operations of the brewery.
You must be proficient in all areas of production brewing.
These include, but are not limited to raw material handling, cleaning, wort production, cellaring, and packaging.
This position reports to the Head Brewer.
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrollment in and / or completion of apprenticeship and / or technical and / or university studies in brewing, food sciences, or sciences field.
Minimum of two years professional brewing experience in a +2500 hL per year production or larger industrial-scale brewery.
You must be able to multitask, manage your time effectively, and work efficiently.
You must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
You must hold a valid passport (EU or Rest of World) and / or a work visa.
EXPECTATIONS
You will be working in a small team and are expected to work in a cooperative manner as one of its members. A can-do and positive attitude, as well as timely and reciprocal communication are critical to the success of the team and brand.
You will be expected to document work in logs, including process deviations (decisions, actions, consequences, and outcomes).
You will be expected to ask questions, and to double or triple check decisions or actions to prevent mistakes which may cost money, time, and effort to fix.
FLEXIBILITY
You must be accessible for remote communication during work and non-working hours (excl. holiday).
You must be willing to work staggered shifts as required by the production schedule.
You must be willing to work weekend shifts if needed by the production schedule.
You must be willing to assist at on and off-site events as needed.
You must be willing to travel and represent the brewery at tap takeovers, beer festivals, and trade shows.
COMPENSATION
€36,000 starting salary.
Career pathway to Senior Brewer.

JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating an automated 20 hL BrauKon brewhouse.
- Operating an automated Zomerdijk / Micro Can canning line.
- Malt preparation and mill operation.
- Cellar management including – including, but not limited to CIP, checks (gravities, pH, temperatures, CO2 / O2), dry hopping, fruiting, transferring, cold conditioning, and carbonation.
- Ensuring quality and consistency of all products from start to finish.
- Equipment and brewing plant maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
