Head Brewer

Position Overview: The primary role of the Head Brewer will be to lead and be accountable for all phases of the brewing process, including but not limited to, recipe development, wort production, inventory management, working closely with the management team and all production personnel to ensure consistency with process and beer production goals, equipment maintenance, guaranteeing a safe working environment for employees by maintaining the facility and equipment in an optimal working environment and enforcing adherence to safe work practices.

Primary Accountabilities:

• Collaborate to develop and maintain the brewing schedule.
• Recipe development for in-house and collaboration brewing
• Pilot recipe brewing as required
• Create all beer descriptions and share them with the company
• Develop and maintain SOPs and other documentation for areas of accountability
• Provide performance feedback, coordinate with production staff on daily tasks
• Responsible for raw material, packaging, and chemical inventory management and ordering
• Maintaining complete and accurate batch documentation and logs
• Hop/grain/fruit contract management
• Brewhouse operation for wort production
• Yeast viability cell counting and harvesting
• Transferring and carbonating bright beer
• Brewhouse, FV, and BT CIP
• Preventive maintenance of brewing equipment
• Troubleshoot and solve issues on the fly in the production department
• Training of brewers
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Represent the company at customer and vendor events

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required (related science degree or recognized brewing certificate preferred)
• Strong mathematics skills and the ability to perform brewing calculations on the fly
• Minimum of three years of production brewery experience, including at least two years of brew house operation
